A beautiful bombomb blanket has long become not only a useful thing in everyday life, but also a stylish element of decor for a children's room. This is not surprising, because such products are most often sewn specifically for children. They are incredibly soft, warm and at the same time pleasant to the touch. In addition, one cannot fail to note their attractive and original appearance.

Features of the Bombone Blanket

First of all, we note that a blanket using the bomber technique is a product that is sewn according to the type of patchwork technique. That is, it consists of a large number of parts of the same size, each of which is filled with special insulation. It can be batting, synthetic winterizer, holofiber or other options. It is due to its unusual appearance that it looks really very original and therefore all the kids like it.

Such blankets have a number of advantages that you should definitely know before buying or by yourself sewing. First of all, they are particularly lightweight, so they are suitable even for the smallest. Moreover, these blankets are very warm, which makes them an indispensable option for cold days.

It should be noted that they are hypoallergenic, and this will agree, a significant advantage for many. Also, due to their attractive appearance, they are often acquired as a stylish decor for a children's room. This solution looks really cool.

But still, bomber blankets have their drawbacks. First of all - this is of course, the price of such a product. It is often quite tall, but it is simply explained. The fact is that they are sewn only by hand. And this means that the process requires painstaking and a lot of time. Therefore, this is reflected in the cost.

Also, special attention should be paid to the process of caring for such products. Only delicate detergents are suitable for washing, and the blanket must be dried in a straightened form. This is very important, as otherwise the filler will clump. And of course, such a blanket will not work with a regular iron. To do this, you must have a good steamer.

As you can see, a bombomb blanket really has both advantages and disadvantages. But if you do not want to spend too much on such an acquisition, we suggest making it yourself.

Bombone blanket: the most popular sewing techniques

In fact, anyone can sew a bomber blanket, since this does not require special knowledge and materials that are too expensive. But still, before starting to work, we recommend that you consider sewing techniques in more detail.

The first is called "individual pads." We will prepare the following for work:

  • colored fabric;
  • plain fabric;
  • scissors;
  • needle;
  • a thread;
  • pins
  • filler;
  • centimeter;
  • pencil;
  • paper or cardboard.

First, draw a template for squares on paper or thick cardboard. Cut it out, apply it to the fabric and cut the workpiece. Keep in mind that it is better to use bright fabric for the front side, and for the wrong side, choose a simple monophonic option. Getting started with workpieces. To do this, we sew two parts together, but only on three sides. After that, we put the filler inside and only at this stage we flash the fourth side. Repeat the same with the rest of the blanks.

After all the blanks are ready, we connect them into strips, as in the photo. We recommend that you ensure that they are as even as possible and connected clearly in the corners. We sew all the details together.

We prepare the main fabric and, if desired, make ruffles for decoration.

We sew together two blanks. The result is a beautiful, bright blanket for the smallest.

The second technique is called "bubbles." The order of sewing a blanket is slightly different from the first, so we suggest considering a step-by-step master class.

In this case, we need:

  • cotton fabric in three colors;
  • cotton plain fabric for warp;
  • holofiber or other excipient;
  • pencil;
  • threads
  • sewing machine;
  • scissors;
  • pins
  • ruler;
  • paper.

On a piece of paper, draw a blanket diagram and mark the placement of each fabric color.

We cut the blanks of a suitable size from colored fabric. We sew them together in strips, according to the scheme. If you wish, you can iron them in order to make it easier to work with them further.

We apply the scheme to the main fabric, leaving small allowances for seams between the squares.

We apply a colored strip to the main fabric and fix it with pins. In the process, we make small folds, as shown in the photo.

We flash the upper part of the strip and only after that proceed to the sides. It is very important that all the seams coincide with the pattern that is applied to the base.

On the underside we make folds and fix them with pins, but do not attach to the main fabric.

We fill the squares with holofiber or another filler. This should not be done too tightly. Only after that we fix the lower part with the base.

Perhaps the most difficult is to sew the next strip. To begin with, it must be folded and only then sewn to the front page with the front side. It is very important that the seam is even and consistent with the pattern.

All the next steps will be on the same principle. That is, immediately fold the strip with folds and sew it, including the sides. We fill the pockets with filler, and also form folds on the underside. After that, we sew the strip with the next and so on.

The result is the basis of a baby blanket with bombs.

Cut a piece of fabric for the back of the blanket and connect them with pins. We flash it on a sewing machine and steam the product so that it is even. A beautiful, stylish blanket for the child is ready!

A bomber blanket is not only a good, functional thing for your baby, but also a decorative element for a children's room. It is often used for photo shoots, so be sure that you will definitely need such a product.
